Crane Partners with Adient to Provide Superior Cabin Experience
It’s no secret a comfortable cabin is synonymous with a good in-flight experience.
Uncomfortable seating, cramped leg room and lack of privacy will be in the past when manufacturer Adient Aerospace finishes installing its all new Ascent business-class seating on select Boeing aircraft.
It is exciting to work with a company with such great depth of seat design experience and desire to enhance the passenger experience.
In April 2019, Adient chose Crane Aerospace & Electronics to develop seat actuation systems and electrical integration on its Ascent business class seat.
“We are proud Adient Aerospace selected Crane Cabin Systems to be their design partner for seat actuation,” said Chris Cook, Vice President and General Manager of Crane Aerospace & Electronics Cabin Systems. “It is exciting to work with a company with such great depth of seat design experience and desire to enhance the passenger experience. The mcX TM actuation system, with its flexible software control, complements Adient’s approach to premium seat design.”
Crane A&E’s mcX TM system is in its third generation. The mcX TM offers a versatile system that easily integrates with existing hardware to provide a smooth and quiet passenger experience. The Ascent business class seating system, which is designed for twin-aisle aircraft, will incorporate the mcX TM system into a modular seating concept.
Hawaiian Airlines’ Boeing 787 has been announced as the launch customer for Adient’s Ascent seating, and while Adient hasn’t yet unveiled all its features, what’s been shown and discussed so far is impressive.
Cabin photos have displayed a 1-2-1 seating configuration, with the middle two seats laying down to create a double bed. Adient Aerospace has also said the seats feature a sliding door, which turns them into a small, cozy suite.
“It will be our goal to provide a superior customer and passenger experience by delivering superior quality seats with intelligent product design,” said Alan Wittman, nominated CEO of Adient Aerospace.
