LYNNWOOD, Wash., July 20, 2022 – Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co. (NYSE:CR), has successfully tested its new Wireless Tire Pressure Sensors on Boeing and Alaska Airlines’ 2021 737-9 ecoDemonstrator program.

Crane A&E’s Wireless Tire Pressure Sensors were installed on the airplane’s main landing gear wheels and communicated wirelessly to a mechanic’s maintenance tablet to facilitate easy and immediate access to tire pressure data. The system enhances tire-related safety, reduces maintenance and operating cost, maximizes tire life and permits predictive maintenance.

“For years, we have had the honor of supplying industry-leading wireless tire pressure sensing to our global customer base,” said Joseph Mundinger, Crane A&E VP & GM, Sensing & Power Systems. “With the successful demonstration of our new long-range wireless tire pressure sensors, we will be able to offer a variety of solutions to our customers. These sensors are the latest in our ongoing commitment to provide leading-edge sensing solutions to improve aviation operations for our commercial and military customers. We were pleased to demonstrate our new technology on Boeing’s ecoDemonstrator and are proud of its success.”

Boeing’s ecoDemonstrator program accelerates innovation by taking promising technologies out of the lab and testing them in an operational environment to help decarbonize aviation, improve operational efficiency and enhance safety and the passenger experience. Nine airplanes have served as flying test beds for the program since it began in 2012.
